FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is covered in my registration fee? Your registration fee covers insurance coverage through USA Rugby, city field fees, referee fees, Southern California Youth Rugby fees, tournament fees during January - April, and after match snacks when we host at our home field. A match jersey will be provided on game day and will need to be returned.
Are there additional expenses after registration? Shorts and socks need to be purchased from the Fullerton Rugby merchandise tent. You will also need a mouth guard (mandatory for all players) and soccer/rugby cleats.
When does practice start? The Head Coach of each division will decide when practice starts. Evening practices will start in December for all teams. Saturday practices will be held pre-season, as scheduled by your coach.
Can I volunteer to coach? We are constantly looking for volunteers to coach or manage teams. Experience is not needed to coach teams Under 8 - Under 14, and we will guide you through the USA Rugby coaching procedure. Rugby knowledge is needed to coach U16 - U18. A pretty rigorous background check is conducted on all volunteer staff for criminal convictions including, but not limited to felonies, sex crimes, domestic violence, and alcohol/drug violations. All coaching appointments are made by the Fullerton Rugby Board.
What is the youngest age to play rugby? The youngest age to play rugby is 6 years, which is non-contact rugby at the Under 8 level.
When are matches played? Matches are played on Saturdays. Certain tournaments for the older players could involve play on Saturday and Sunday.
Do we have to travel? Yes, all teams will be scheduled to play home and away games.
